About 'The Asmattulla Qureshi Family'
Assalam-u-Alaikum

In 1940 an ancestral chart (Family Tree) was prepared and submitted to the Lands and Revenue Department, Tahsil Batala, District Gurdaspur, Punjab, India to establish agriculture as the profession of the Qureshis. The document was based on information from the surviving seniors and the official papers related to landholdings and revenues. (Late) Haji Abdul Wahed son of Haji Inaittulla Qureshi of Mahtha, District Amritsar revised and updated the chart, which was printed and distributed on 28 February, 1974.

Our ancestors came from Arabia and settled down in Bhaira, district Sargodha, Punjab. Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Mukurram later moved via Narrowal to Kalanour Akbari. They were then called to Dehli and were appointed Chief Qazi (Qazi-ul-Qaziat) at Zahoorah, district Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Their descendants settled in that area. Abdul- Nabi, a fifth generation descendant moved to Metha (district Amritsar) with his appointment as Qazi. His grandson, Muhammad Pannah inherited the position and his descendants settled down in Metha or migrated in the surrounding areas including Batala, district Gurdaspur, Punjab, India. In 1947 most of the Qureshis moved to Pakistan and settled down at several locations mainly in Punjab.

I have attempted to reproduce the chart on this website
, and would like to update it. Please visit the
website and help me to achieve that goal. To include in this chart, I would like you
to provide me up to date information on your families and to check spellings,
locations and dates. Also please give your advice to improve its presentation.

Please forward/circulate this message as best as you could do. I have included daughters and wives and would certainly like to include all the in-laws and their families.

Thank you
 Fayyaz Qureshi (Kosha)
